Everywhere I go people are talking about social media – twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, blogging etc etc. It’s a hot topic for networking events and it is sure to get a good attendance as people flock to hear how they can make the most out of using Social Media for business and personal benefit. Having recently moved jobs to specialise within IT recruitment I have discovered so many benefits already. Previously I had dabbled with Linked In and also used facebook to connect with friends primarily however more recently I have been introduced to twitter.
So far I have found that by using twitter specifically I have:
- Found great articles on a wide variety of topics
- Connected with people I know
- Build relationships with people that I am currently doing business with
- Got introduced to new contacts
Above all it is fun and relatively easy to use (though I admit to still being a novice!) In joining Cpl Northern Ireland, a company that are really behind social media and who see the benefits for business as well as the personal side of building your own brand. I have found this so refreshing and I am already starting to see results in a variety of ways. As I say I am relatively new to using twitter and so I am still in early stages of building my networks but so far I can say the following:
- Don’t be afraid to experiment
Next for me is building a facebook fan page – Cpl IT Northern Ireland. Has anyone any good advice for doing this successfully?
Become a fan of Cpl IT Northern Ireland on facebook
